Washington Township Land Trust The Land Trust was organized in 1990 to protect and preserve the ecological, cultural, and historical integrity of the areas that contribute to and enhance the rural character of Washington Township and its environs. Efforts to fulfill this mission have included both land conservation and historic preservation projects. By partnering with state, county, municipal and non-profit entities, the Land Trust has been instrumental in preserving approximately 700 acres of open space.  In terms of historic preservation, the Land Trust has been restoring the Obadiah LaTourette Grist and Saw Mill since 1991, aided by grants, donations, membership dues and volunteer labor.
